S3 Supergirl Jam - Soul Bowl Clip
The S3 Supergirl Jam was an all girls action sports competition on the sand in Huntington Beach featuring girls skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, and inline skating. The event was shot with 8 cameras ENG style (all roving cameras with no matching timecode). With this particular piece, the skateboarding in the bowl wasn't as impressive as some of the other competitions that day. Some of the challenges were to 1) make the skateboarding look impressive 2) capture the personality of the girls not just the competition 3) reinforce the message that girls should feel empowered, and be able to do action sports just like the boys.
A Day In the Life - Chanelle Sladics
Chanelle Sladics is a well known professional Snowboarder, this piece was meant to show all the things this amazing athlete does when she is not on the slopes. This piece probably could have been a 1/2 hour show. One of the tricks was cutting the piece down to 2 minutes. I am disappointed (and not responsible) for the audio mix in this piece, however, I wanted to include it because I solved a problem at the end of the surfing scene. I needed to create an interaction between Chanelle and the lifeguards, so I recorded my voice as if it were coming from the lifeguard boat telling her to get out of the water. Creating that interaction allowed me to use a really great bite from her about being chased out of the water and allowed me to build up the lifeguard's presence which added some nice flavor and a little bit of drama to the surfing piece.
CBS World Champs of Freestyle Moto - Nate Adams Profile
We follow professional freestyle moto rider Nate Adams to a day of training for Motocross Racing, a childhood dream he is working to achieve on the side. This piece is unique because I both shot and edited the piece so I was able to shoot shots that fit my editing style.
